Art and craft group's Senedd display
The Montgomeryshire Valley Arts and Crafts group has had an exhibition at the Welsh Assembly's Senedd building in Cardiff to promote Welsh artwork which continues to be a significant expression of the country's culture.
The exhibition was organised by Montgomeryshire Liberal Democrat AM Mick Bates who believes Wales' political home needs more Welsh art on display to give it more Welsh feel.
“When looking around the Assembly you could be in any building in the country. We need something to identify the Senedd building as Welsh, and what better than displaying some of the work of the many talented artists in Wales?” said Mr. Bates.
Stan Jankowski of Valley Arts and Crafts, echoed Mick's sentiments saying: “Wouldn't it be great to have Welsh artwork in the Assembly. I'm hoping this will inspire other AM's to join Mick in campaigning for a continuous display of Welsh art within the Assembly.”
Valley Arts and Crafts is a group based near Welshpool and comprised of dedicated people to the creation, promotion and survival of Welsh art. The group promotes the talent of Welsh artists, keeping the culture and heritage of the country alive through its art.

Valley Arts and Crafts
THE magnificent copper Dragon “Madog” (or Colin to his friends) created by Stan Jankowski, of Llanwddyn, took a trip to the Assembly Building in Cardiff last week as part of a successful display put on by members of Valley Arts and Crafts at the invitation of AM Mick Bates.
Members had submitted samples of their work to create a fine display, and chairman Richard Baddiley says that it showed the range of talent in Montgomeryshire.
In a new exciting venture for the group, members' work will now be on display and for sale at Unit 3 Lake Vyrnwy Workshops (next to Tourist Information Office), opening on Saturday, February 10, for the half-term week, then on weekends until Easter before opening fully. This is art and craft of the highest standard produced in Montgomeryshire by more than 50 talented people.
