RHIW VALLEY BEARS. I made my first Bear in October 2004. I have always loved Teddy Bears and have collected quite a few. I used to travel to the big London Bear Fairs when I lived at Bristol. I was hooked. I vowed there and then when I retired I would try and make a Bear myself. We moved to Manafon, Powys in 2002. My first Bear was called Smokey and I was pleased with the result. It encouraged me to make more. It is now 2007 and I still love making them. I have made a lot for family and friends. I think of it as my hobby, although an expensive one, as my husband reminds me every so often. I love it if someone buys one of my Bears but also feel a little sad, as I get very attached to them. My Bears are made of Mohair or Alpaca and have traditional joints and glass eyes. Every bear can take up to 15 hours to finish. The Bears are collectors items and not suitable for young children. Incidently RHIW VALLEY BEARS was named after the lovely valley I live in.
