Biography
Most of my working life has been spent teaching in Adult Education until I took early retirement. I taught City and Guilds Soft Furnishing and Upholstery, Design and Embroidery, which was by far my favourite. I have always painted as a hobby and so combining this with stitch seemed the obvious way forward. This is not traditional silk painting as most people know it, as I have developed a technique which is unique. I also use machine embroidery threads to hand embroider some of the pieces as I like the fine detail it gives me. Living in the heart of the beautiful Tanat Valley on the river bank means that birds are daily visitors to my garden and therefore one of the ideal subjects for my work. I love the technique of painting on silk and then adding to this with stitch which gives me the texture required to add emphasis. I am lucky enough to be married to a landscape artist and so our work goes hand in hand. My work can be found in many private collections.
